Meet PassionSki – St. Moritz, Switzerland

St Moritz, ski, fun, passionski,

Having fun on the snow with the PassionSki team, St. Moritz, Switzerland.

What we found remarkable about Christophe is the ability to turn all his life time passions into one great full-time job.

Christophe Steck – founder and ski instructor at PassionSki St. Moritz, Switzerland.

He’s a skier, mountaineer and climber, but also an experienced chef, wine and food amateur, and – last but not least – a successful business man and entrepreneur. In 2010, after completing his studies studies, Christophe managed to combine all of his passions together and give life to PassionSki – St. Moritz.

3 adjectives that best describe PassionSki:

Personal, flexible and professional

When was your school born?

The ski school was formally incorporated on 20th September 2010, but the idea had already been developing for awhile. The business was given a solid structure thanks to several years of experience and to my recent studies in Business Administration and Hospitality Management.

In which resorts do you operate?

During our daily instruction activity we cover all ski resorts of the Upper Engadin in the St. Moritz area, meaning Corviglia, Corvatsch-Furtschellas, Diavolezza-Lagalp and Zuoz. Our team is also available for teaching outside of those resorts and travel across Switzerland or abroad.

How many instructors does PassionSki count?

PassionSki counts 14 qualified and experienced instructors, each of them eager to share their enthusiasm for skiing. We are a young team, ranging between 25 to 45 years old – exception made for Jacques Savay, Class ’43, carrying more than 35 years of skiing experience around St. Moritz. Through his incredible carrier he taught skiing to an endless number of VIPs and famous people and he’s always happy to share some of his stories with our guests!

What languages can you accomodate?

With our instructors, we cover German, Italian, French, English, Spanish and Russian.

What are your strengths?

We employ the same group of certified instructors since 2010; this approach guarantees high quality instruction, as well as a certain continuity in the learning process of our returning guests. Our instructors are well trained at adapting their teaching based on the specific needs of every visitor, so to provide a more and more customized experience year after year.

What differentiates PassionSki from others?

Igloo, Engadin, Passionski, st. moritz

Stopping by the igloo and enjoying a sunny day out with the PassionSki team in St. Moritz, Engadin, Switzerland.

We are working hard to be perceived as more than (just) a ski school; PassionSki is sport and hospitality re-experienced. Our portfolio includes all kind of experiences in the Engadin Valley. One of our best selling packages is a day-out in the forest covered in snow: we guide our guests through the beautiful and untouched winter Engadin landscapes and stop by the PassionSki igloo – where visitor can take a quick break or spend the entire night! We also organize in-house and outdoor food events.

Your first season using Skipodium: What did you like?

We are in a generation of change; new trends are shaping our future. Customer needs are not the same as 10 years ago and will be different again in a near future. Technology is moving fast, and we must embrace new trends if we want to stay competitive. Skipodium helped us optimize our booking processes, sales and communication channels.

We started cooperating with their young and dynamic team in winter 2016/2017. In just few months working together, we could already observe great improvements on the application. We are happy that the time spent together materialized in concrete steps forward for Skipodium.

We believe that technologies like Skipodium will have more and more important role in the future of the ski industry; we need to be prepared to face that and cooperate with them from the beginning.

What needs to be improved?

I am looking to have a booking system as simple as possible – Skipodium is getting there, but find some minor difficulties in the day-to-day processes. Though, we like their work philosophy, and their openness and forward-looking approach. They are the same as we are on the snow 🙂 Good luck and we are happy to work with you guys!
